Ah, jumpsuits: they make you look so effortless, even though going to the bathroom in one is anything BUT. I generally don't want to make the effort that comes with wearing a jumpsuit, but the culottes silhouette and the pale gold crinkle fabric of this particular specimen totally won me over. The neckline is a bit too revealing for a regular day at the office, especially since the temperatures have dropped considerably over the last week, so I layered it over a simple shirt. I enjoy the gamine vibe of the look, despite not being the most obvious combo.

How has your weekend been going? I spent yesterday with my girlfriends, and today is reserved for chilling and catching up with my favourite tv shows. I know, my life isn't the most exciting, but I DID go to Paris last week so there's that! I'll be sharing my Paris experiences with you soon, had the absolute BEST time ;-) peace out!

Beauty: vitamin C Clinique Fresh Pressed review

Beauty: vitamin C Clinique Fresh Pressed review

While I used to think that a simple moisturizer was enough, skincare has become a passion of mine over the past few years. Of course, you shouldn't expect miracles from skincare (you're never going to get a result from a cream that you might get from fillers or botox, if that's what you're after), but as someone who spends quite some time staring at their face while playing with makeup and editing pictures, I've come to notice the small but significant changes made by particular types of skincare.

Today, I'll be talking about Clinique's Fresh Pressed regime, which is basically a 7 day plan that uses vitamin C to clarify your skintone and increase your natural glow. I tried a vitamin C based skincare routine last year when I tested Auriga's Flavo C range, but I wasn't entirely convinced by the result. However, when I received this adorable mason jar filled with Clinique goodies, I was inspired to give the idea another go. Especially when reading the claims!

- cell renewal is boosted from the first use
- your complexion should look brighter after only one use, and after a week of daily application, your skin will be more even, smoother and firmer
- after four weeks, hyperpigmentation should be reduced by about 20% (no idea how they measure this though), and fine lines and wrinkles have reduced by 30%
- after 12 weeks of contnued use, hyperpigmentation has reduced by 30%, and wrinkles by 40%.

Sounds pretty impressive! I only used the product for 7 days, so let's see if we can see those claimed end results.

Giveaway and Beauty: Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 avant premiere

Guardians of the Galaxy vol 2 inspired makeup look

Hey guys, fun post today! I mean my posts are always fun (I'd like to think) but today is a two-for-one. First, I'm giving away THREE sets of two tickets (so six tickets in total) to go see Guardians of the Galaxy in IMAX at the night of its exclusive premiere at Kinepolis Brussels, April 25th. Second, I'm sharing a makeup collab I did with my lovely sister, inspired by two of GotG's most kick-ass female characters. We were both pretty proud of the end result, so you're in for a treat!

Beauty: Asian beauty with BBCosmetic review and coupon code

Beauty: Asian beauty with BBCosmetic review and coupon code

Hi babes! Today is all about Korean beauty products, as I will be reviewing the BB Cosmetic webshop, and some Yadah brand cosmetics. I'll also be sharing a coupon code that you might wanna use if you're into Asian makeup yourself, so keep reading if you're interested ;-)

BB Cosmetic is part of the current wave of Asian webshops geared at Western customers, and the store offers free shipping worldwide and a bevy of beauty products by brands that are not available in the Western markets. Definitely something that makes a a makeup lover's heart beat a little faster! I was offered three items to review for you guys, and I tried to get some diversity in there: the Yadah quick tattoo brow gel, a lip tint, and some sunscreen.

Travel: California Roadtrip 2017 Itinerary

Ah, travel! Growing up, we never had any money to travel anywhere, and that situation continued until a few years ago when I finally felt comfortable enough with my savings and income that I could justify spending money on discovering the world. And thanks to my PhD, I was able to dive in deep straight away: Puerto Rico, Japan, and now California. Yes, you've read that right, I'll be flying to California in about two months!

Like the two years before, my boyfriend will be coming along and he suggested that we should rent a car and turn our visit to San Diego (where I will be presenting my research at a conference) into a mini roadtrip through southern California. I basically jumped for joy when he said he was into it, and I've been having fun planning our trip ever since! As it stands now, this is our itinerary. If you have any tips, recommendations or feedback, please do share. I prefer being super prepared when travelling, so the more info, the merrier ;-)

Beauty: Anastasia Beverly Hills pro series contour kit review

Beauty: Anastasia Beverly Hills pro series contour kit review

Hi babes! Today I'm reviewing one of the most influential, hyped makeup products of the last few years: the Anastasia Beverly Hills pro series contour kit. ABH was one of the first brands that created high quality contouring products geared at "casual" makeup lovers rather than makeup artists, and this pro series contour kit is incredibly popular. When contouring was at its peak a few years ago, this palette was constantly sold out, and for good reason: the colours are versatile, the powders are neutral in undertone, and the blendability and pigmentation is amazing.

If you're pale like me you can use a light hand and blend them out, or you can use the product more heavily if you have medium skintone. In sum: instead of having one or two shades that suit your complexion, like with most contouring kits geared at professionals, you will be able to use all of these powders if you have light-medium skintone. This makes it worth its €54.90 pricetag (available at Planet Parfum in Belgium).

Let me demonstrate the awesomeness of this contour kit.

Beauty: H&M Strobing Palette review

Beauty: H&M Strobing Palette review

Another day, another highlighting product review. I hope you're still as into the trend as I am! As much as I love a matte look from time to time, this end of winter/early spring weather makes me want to turn around my beauty routine, go back to something dewy, glowy, fresh and easy. Highlighting is the BEST way to brighten up dull or sallow winter complexion with minimal effort, and allowing your skin to breathe.

I spotted this limited edition Strobing Palette at H&M's beauty counter, and its six cream highlighters made it impossible for me not to swatch away. After swatching I fell in love (ugh I never learn), and although I walked away that first time (the last thing I need is more highlighters), I returned a week later because I couldn't put this palette out of my head. Since it's just €15, I allowed myself to go for it. And now I can review it for you guys, so enjoy!

Review: Zaful swimsuits

Hi guys! If you're on Facebook, you have undoubtedly spotted those Zaful FB ads. Gorgeous babes in super cute swimsuits, what's not to like? Well, for one, Zaful has been getting some mixed reviews. I've heard of long shipping times and low quality, but also very positive impressions of customers. I have quite some experience with Asian webshops (as a blogger, it sort of comes with the territory), so when Zaful contacted me for a collaboration, I figured I could do an honest, thorough review of my experience with Zaful to help you guys decide whether to take the gamble!

The past week has been nothing short of amazing, weather-wise. Nothing refuels my batteries like some time in the sun, and these first spring days were just what I needed. I'm still stressed out with a million things on my to-do list in this last stretch of finishing my PhD, but I have a bit less anxiety when the sun is out ;-) And look at those first spring blossoms! I love seeing the seasons change in my outfit pictures - just a couple of weeks before the magnolias in full bloom again, and I always look forward to that so much.

Friday night, my sister and I took the train to Brussels to go to the Beauty and the Beast avant première and had an absolutely lovely time. Great movie, gorgeous venue, good company - unforgettable experience. I can't recommend the movie enough btw, if you love that Disney magic ;-)

I hope you're having a lovely weekend! Btw, I might blog a bit more inconsistently over the next couple of weeks, since I'm so busy at work right now, but I'll still do my best to drop by regularly.

Spring wishlist: romantic boho vibes

With the sunny weather of last week and the work-related stress I've been experiencing lately, I'm in the mood for some shopping. To celebrate spring 2017, and to reward myself for all the work I've been putting in. You can all relate, right?? But I'm also saving up for some exciting travel destinations this year, so I don't want to spend too much money. Shein to the rescue! Their collections and quality have been getting better and better, and I always love windowshopping here because they're so on trend. Here are nine of my current favs.

1: mustard baroque blouse - $17
2: red lace overlay promdress - $50
3: floral embroidery mesh top - $36
4: boho embroidery vest - $27
5: rose patch denim vest - $30
6: floral embroidery ruffle blouse - $23
7: striped bow tie shirtdress - $19
8: striped floral embroidery dress - $20
9: pink floral wrap dress - $26

As you can see, I'm still really into romantic, floral/boho vibes. WHAT ELSE IS NEW. Hey, I like what I like. You feeling it?

Beauty: Dior Addict Lacquer Stick review

Beauty: Dior Addict Lacquer Stick review

It's Friday and I'm feeling alive, people. Well, I'm actually feeling braindead after writing parts of my PhD's conclusion (I hate writing conclusions), so please excuse me if this post is filled with spelling mistakes. I'll do my best to keep it 100. Let's talk about Dior's new Addict Lacquer sticks!

Glossy, saturated lipcolours has been THE trend for the past few months (see MAC liptensity, for example), and Dior is presenting its own take on the look for spring 2017. I received two shades, 877 Turn Me and 924 Sauvage. As always, Dior's products look gorgeous, exuding luxury. But do they stand out in other ways? Let's find out!

Beauty: mixing up my skincare routine

Hi guys! Let's talk skincare. It's the heart of winter right now, and I had noticed my skin being a bit out of it - a mix of dry patches and some breakouts. The cold + dry air tends to do that to me, and at some point at the beginning of the new year I almost always notice that my skin just needs a bit more effort put into it. However, deep-rehydration wasn’t enough. Instead, my skin needed a kick up the butt to get it back to where it needed to be: exfoliating and rebalancing. I'm not someone who sticks to a couple of holy grail products, I like to switch it up since I get to try out so many different things as a beauty blogger, so watch me delve into my stash and experiment to help my skin get its groove back.

Skincare: Clinique Take of the Day oil cleanser review

Skincare: Clinique Take of the Day oil cleanser review

Today we're talking cleansing! Honestly, when you're into wearing makeup like I am, nothing is more important than removing all of it before bed. When I switched from sheer coverage foundations to medium-full coverage ones (Revlon Colorstay, at the time), I immediately noticed that my regular cleansing milk just didn't cut it anymore - my skin started to break out because it wasn't thoroughly clean at the end of the day. I started looking for a product that would take all of my longwearing makeup off without having to combine 20 steps or without having to rub my face (sensitive skin right here), and oil cleansers solved all of my problems. I usually use two: a liquid one for my eye makeup, and a thicker, balm type product for my face. Let me introduce you to my current favourites: the Take the Day off cleansing duo by Clinique!

Beauty: Yves Rocher's new lipstick collection

Beauty: Yves Rocher's new lipstick collection

Hi there! Let's talk lipstick for today's post ;-) For spring 2017, Yves Rocher is overhauling their entire lipstick collection: instead of differently packaged and named lipsticks (cherry oil vs grand rouge vs moisturizing cream), all of their lipsticks will be rebranded into the Rouge Vertige line, differentiated by finish: satin, shine and pearly. Sleek, and it's much easier to find the shade and finish you're looking for if you don't have to take the different collections into account. I received three shades in the three different finishes to give you guys an idea. Let's take a look.

Hi babes! How's things? I've just had a rather productive work day getting into academic literature on Foucault, poststructuralism and feminism (I know, writing a PhD is pretentious AF), and now I'm zoning out on the couch watching Catfish. It's the episode on this little 4chan type asshole who catfished 400 women and still doesn't understand that he's the gross bag of dicks. He's probably alt-right too. Something about entitled assholes whining that gorgeous women won't give them the time of day, while their own standards are obviously set way too high, just makes me feel like punching something/someone. TOO BAD THAT PATRIARCHY ISN'T WORKING FOR YOU THE WAY IT WORKS IN BULLSHIT MOVIES DUDE.

Anyway, rant's over: an outfit! My bangs really work so well with these types of retro 60s/70s looks, and I love how this one came together. Simple basic pieces offset with a statement bag, neutrals paired with vibrant eggplant - I felt very elegant wearing this outfit to work. The skirt was a vintage find from late 2015 (I think) that I sort of upcycled by shortening it from midi to mini, much more wearable. Perfect timeless, high quality suede skirt. For those types of finds, thrifting really is the best option.

The bag is by Kipling. I keep being impressed by how cute and fashion forward Kipling's handbags really are these days! I know I'm not one of the only kids who grew up loving those backpacks with the little fluffy monkey attached (remember that the monkeys always used to have really dorky grandpa names?? I had one named Herbert or something, loved it), so seeing that the brand has grown up along with me is a pleasant surprise. Although I sort of wish the fluffy pompom hanging from this Lifesaver bag had a dorky name as well.

Hope you like the look!
